What is VA (volt-amperes)?

VA is apparent electrical power. It is the product of RMS voltage and RMS current, without applying power factor.

What is the difference between single-phase and three-phase VA?

Single-phase apparent power is amps multiplied by volts. Balanced three-phase apparent power also includes the square root of three when line-to-line voltage is used.

Do I need power factor to calculate VA?

No. Power factor is used to convert apparent power into real power in watts. VA itself does not require it.

How is VA different from watts?

VA describes apparent power, while watts describe real power actually consumed. Watts equal VA multiplied by power factor.
